Parajunkee's question this week was:  Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share.

In most cases, I'm into intensity in a book. Where the intensity comes in will vary, but if I book has great verbal sparring, or hardcore emotional conflicts or nail-biting suspense, I fall for it.

Gin?ger's question this week was: Book Appeal: When you're browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger's reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?

These days, I'm drawn to a sense of wit or adventure. If I get the impression from the synopsis or the review that the book has great dialogue or pulse-pounding action, I immediately want to check it out. If a book is both witty and exciting, I am totally sold on it. And a nicely managed love story doesn't hurt, either. :-) Covers no longer influence my decision to read a book, but a good cover will lure me in to read the synopsis, and I'll decide from there.

Also, new concepts and genre-crosses really pull me toward reading a book. A post-apocalyptic steampunk or a werewolf western would be irresistible!
